Lecture:  More than Cotton - Unusual Fabrics and Unique Items in Your Quilts

See quilts and wearables that incorporate lame, silk, and even polyester. Ties, ribbons, rickrack - hankies, gloves, and hardware – all find their way into these pieces. Look through a distinctive stash of odds and ends, brainstorming how they may fit into future projects. Bring along any special "finds" and we'll see how they might enhance your quilts.  1 Hour

Workshop:  Paper Doll Fun -- Remember as a child cutting those chains of dolls from newspaper?  Apply that same technique to quilt block creation.  Using freezer paper patterns and a quick blanket stitch appliqué technique, create girls and boy.  Clothes and embellishments give your dolls added personality.  Learn the basics - Half Day.  Learn the basics, embellish and create additional boy and girl designs - Full Day.

Workshop:  The Playful Nine-Patch -- Start with the basic nine-patch.  Then forget the parallel lines; you'll turn that block into a brand new design.  Try drawing some of your own patterns.  Then create several blocks for an attractive wall hanging.  This is just the tip of the iceberg for a new great design process.  Half day.

Workshop:  Log Cabin Table Runner -- Fun, fun, fun!  Ten squares, created in a half log cabin fashion, and pieced together in a unique table runner shape.  Create your own arrangement.  Special stitch and turn process finishes the piece without binding.  Full Day

Tradition With a Modern Slant

Lecture:  Tradition with a Modern Slant – Historical Blocks and New Designs From Old Time Favorites

Workshop: Two Designs, One Quilt:  Your First Reversible Quilt -- A great introduction to the reversible technique! Each block is pieced and quilted as you go.  Create four basic blocks, then sash and bind the project.  We will look at other block and design possibilities, and try some additional blocks.  Full Day

Workshop:  I’m Crazy About Ties -- Get your creative juices flowing!  Design a crazy quilt block out of old tie fabrics. Piecing methods and some stitch designs presented.  Upon completion, you will have a great pillow cover, a striking wall hanging, or the beginnings of a quilt.  Full Day

Leslie has such a bubbly personality she couldn't possibly give a bad lecture.  She was eager to answer all questions from the audience and had so much to say!  Sometimes I get bored with a lecture and I want to sneak out before it's over. But with Leslie, she is such a warm, caring, energetic person it radiated through the entire meeting area!

It Doesn't Have to be Cotton - Unusual Fabrics and Unique Items in Your Quilts

The Mountain Laurel QG in the Poconos enjoyed a great lecture. Leslie had many "different" ideas about how to incorporate unexpected items into our quilts. It was informative, lively and and fun. Leslie has a wonderful personality that is so important when giving a lecture

One Block, Five Techniques

I found the workshop very enlightening.  I thought I knew most of the techniques involved in the workshop but taking the workshop, there were shortcuts and newer ways to create some of the designs that I found easier to use.  And I have since employed some of the shortcuts in other quilt designs.
